At JolieMD Anti-aging Institute, we pride ourselves on offering the most advanced technology in laser hair removal. The key to achieving the best possible clearance of unwanted hair is use of the right laser at the right settings for each person. Drs. Solieman and Litner consult with each of our patients to ensure that we are creating the best possible treatment plan for you. Laser hair removal is widely available today at spas and other centers and, as a result, we frequently see patients who’ve tried it elsewhere only to be disappointed with the results. That’s because many centers use the wrong lasers (inefficient or outdated technologies at ineffective settings) and, at many, you will never be seen by a doctor. This can be especially frustrating for those with darker skin types or very fine hair. If you’ve been wanting laser hair removal, we’ll help you successfully achieve the smooth, hair-free look you want.
The removal of body hair is certainly not a new custom. Archaeological evidence indicates that our ancestors were removing unwanted body hair as early as 30,000 BCE! Egyptian records show that women achieved smooth, hair-free skin by waxing or tweezing unwanted hairs over 2,000 years ago. Today, we can pick from hundreds of products designed to temporarily remove unwanted body hair. But for the ultimate in beautiful, smooth skin, laser hair removal is the best way to reduce body hair.
Laser hair removal can be performed on almost any area of the body. The areas of the body where we most commonly perform laser hair removal treatments are:
Individuals who have excessive amounts of hair or growth in areas where hair doesn’t typically appear (e.g. on a woman’s chin or chest) can also benefit from the treatment.
During your treatment, our advanced laser system is used to target individual hair follicles beneath the surface of your skin. The hair follicle absorbs the laser’s energy, which disrupts its normal functions and prevents future hair growth.
All hair on the human body goes through three distinct phases, known as anagen, catagen, and telogen. Hair does not go through these phases at the same time – if it did, you would have bald patches while new hair grew in! Laser hair removal works by destroying hair follicles while they are in the anagen phase, which is the active growth stage of hair. At any given time, between 10 – 70% of hair in the targeted area will be in the anagen phase. Since only hair in the anagen phase will be affected, a series of laser treatments are required to provide long-lasting hair removal in the targeted area.
In our Beverly Hills practice, we perform laser hair removal using the advanced Icon Aesthetic laser. We have chosen this particular system because it offers effective hair removal without damaging the skin. Icon Aesthetic is also safe to use on all skin colors and hair types. Unlike other laser systems, there is minimal risk of pigment changes in patients with darker skin, which is a serous risk of laser hair removal performed with other lasers. If you’re interested in laser hair removal, we encourage you to undergo treatment with the Icon laser in our Los Angeles office where you will benefit from our expertise of our skilled hair removal team.
