Wrinkles &
Fine Lines

Wrinkles and fine lines are inevitable but looking as young as you feel has never been more achievable.

We all age, but not everyone is as happy to see the signs of aging. Almost everyone would love to see themselves look as young as they feel. In fact, this is one of the main reasons that Dr Litner and Solieman chose to undergo their training and Double Board Certification in Facial Plastics. The combination of their extensive training as well as decade long experience in the practice of Facial Plastics as well as development of Skin care lines allow them to have a truly unique vision on how to customize a treatment plan for you.

Treatment Options

We really enjoy consulting with patients who are concerned about fine lines and wrinkles because we can offer them the entire range of treatment options to improve the signs of facial aging. The chart below provides a brief overview of our three most popular wrinkle treatments.

How Fine Lines and Wrinkles Form

The formation of fine lines and wrinkles is a natural part of the aging process that eventually affects every person to some degree. Lines and wrinkles don’t have a single cause. A series of changes in the skin contribute to their formation over time. These include:

  • A natural loss of skin elasticity causes the skin to become more fragile and prone to wrinkling
  • Oils produced by the skin decrease in production, making skin drier and more wrinkled
  • Loss of fat beneath the skin contributes to sagging skin, causing lines and wrinkles to deepen
  • Ultraviolet radiation (from the sun, for example) causes the skin’s connective tissue to breakdown more quickly
  • Repeated facial expressions create certain lines (e.g. frown lines, smile lines) that become more pronounced over time

Contributing Factors

While no one is completely immune from developing lines and wrinkles, some people will develop these signs of aging sooner than others or experience them to a greater degree. Genetics has a lot to do with how and when we form wrinkles. If your parents wrinkled early, you are more likely to experience wrinkles earlier on, too. Lines and wrinkles also tend to form in similar patterns within families.

Lifestyle choices also have a major affect on the development wrinkles. Apart from time and DNA, repeated exposure to sunlight is the biggest contributor to the development of wrinkles. If you carefully protect your skin while you are younger, you may be able to slow the formation of lines and wrinkles. Smoking cigarettes and overconsumption of alcohol are known to dehydrate the skin and led to earlier development of lines and wrinkles.
